Michael Hammer is Director of the University of Arizona Genetics Core (UAGC) and a research scientist who has run a productive lab in human evolutionary genetics for the past 25 years. His lab has been an early adopter of NGS technology, applying whole genome analysis in humans, in great apes (GAPE Project), and in the Gibbon Genome project. His professional and personal experiences have endowed him with a passion to translate discoveries in the lab to the clinic, and to help children and their families who suffer from early childhood disorders. The University of Arizona is an excellent venue for these endeavors, being a first class University with great strengths in interdisciplinary research, an excellent medical school, state-of-the-art core facilities, and talented clinicians.
