Research Interests
I am interested in the applications of probability and statistics to problems that arise in genomics. The Kingman coalescent has revolutionized the way DNA sequence data is analyzed. Further generalizations and modifications of the coalescent, such as the Ancestral Recombination Graph (ARG) are necessary in order to model regions of the genome that are being sequenced today, such as autosomal regions where recombination is taking place. Efficient algorithms are necessary to infer evolutionary parameters in a reasonable amount of time.
Current Research
My current research involves the implementation of different demographic models within the ARG, and the development of statistical methods using Importance Sampling and other tools to able to determine the evolutionary processes that generated the present day human DNA sequence.
